WCMX and Adaptive Skate at UT Southwestern
The World WCMX Federation with Ability Skateboarding, Andrew Garcia and his team for a hands-on workshop at the UT Southwestern Adaptive Sports Expo in Dallas, TX. The event brought together athletes and community members from across adaptive sports to learn, connect, and bring awareness to adaptive sports.
The workshop introduced attendees to the fundamentals of WCMX (Wheelchair Motocross) and Adaptive Skateboarding, giving participants a chance to explore how creativity and inclusion continue to shape these growing sports. First-time riders had an opportunity to roll, learn, and support one another.
One of the highlights of the day was seeing the All-Abilities Skate Crane in action, fabricated by Tom Finch from Finch Adaptive Fabrication. This new piece of adaptive equipment helps riders of all abilities access ramps and features safely, making skateparks more inclusive and functional for a wider range of users.
We’d like to thank UT Southwestern for hosting this event and for providing a space that supports adaptive sports and the athletes who make it thrive. Workshops like these continue to build awareness, inspire participation, and help grow the adaptive skate community.
Stay tuned for more updates from the World WCMX Federation as we keep working to make action sports accessible for everyone.
