Honored to Represent at the AT Alabama Conference
World WCMX Federation board members Tony Torres and Andrew Garcia were honored to attend the AT Alabama Conference in Birmingham, Alabama. The event featured hands-on clinic on September 15th at City Walk Skatepark that brought an incredible amount of energy and excitement to adaptive sports. A special highlight was partnering with Crys Worley from the A.skate Foundation, a pioneer in autism and therapy skateboarding for over a decade. Having her lead at her home park and at the conference added a powerful touch to the experience.
The clinics showcased the passion and curiosity of so many new faces eager to learn about WCMX and adaptive skate. One of the most inspiring moments came from our friends at All Abilities Skateboarding, who introduced the all abilities skate crane—a groundbreaking piece of equipment that allows individuals of any ability to safely try skateboarding. This innovation showed us how the right tools can empower people to push past barriers and take on challenges just like anyone else.
On September 17th, the workshops brought together professionals from different industries to explore opportunities for adaptive skate and WCMX in their own communities. The sessions were well-received and concluded with a powerful testimonial from the mother of a skate crane rider, who shared how much joy and confidence her daughter found through the experience.
For us at the World WCMX Federation, this conference was a reminder of why we do what we do. It’s about creating smiles, opening doors, and encouraging everyone to step beyond their comfort zones to face challenges and fears with courage.
